Illness during holidays

Since January 1, 2024, employees who are unable to work during their legal days off can recover the day or days of incapacity later in the year and receive their guaranteed salary.

As a result, these days off will be converted into sick days and are no longer considered legal days off as they were before January 1, 2024.

Regardless of the fact that employees must still provide a medical certificate on time (from the first day of incapacity), it is necessary – in case of staying at a different address – to also provide it to the employer.

If employees affected by incapacity to work during their legal days off wish to extend their stay and overlap with the first scheduled workdays, they must first submit a request to the employer, who may refuse it for internal organizational reasons, citing the company’s work regulations.
